The Number one question I get asked as a brand photographer

As a brand photographer, I get a lot of fantastic questions from clients who are getting ready for their photoshoots. It's natural to have queries – you want to look your best and ensure your investment truly captures the essence of your brand! So, I thought I'd tackle not just one, but three of the most common questions I hear to help shed some light on the process.
1. "Help! What on earth should I wear for my photoshoot?"
Ah, the age-old wardrobe dilemma! Don't worry, you're definitely not alone in pondering this. My recommendation is to approach your outfits with variety in mind. Think of it in terms of different scenarios where you might represent your brand:
The "Power Player" Look: If you were stepping onto a stage to speak to a large audience, what's a polished, professional version of what you'd wear? For most of my clients, this translates to dress pants and a sharp blouse with a blazer, or a well-fitting suit for the gentlemen. This look conveys authority and confidence.
The "Client Connection" Look: Imagine you're sitting down for an important meeting with a potential client. What's a classy yet approachable outfit you'd choose? Often, this is a comfortable yet put-together sweater paired with tailored slacks or even a nice pair of dark-wash denim. It strikes that perfect balance of professional and relatable.
The "Authentically You" Look: This is where your personal style really shines! What's a casual outfit that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and truly reflects who you are? For many, this is their favorite jeans with a stylish top that showcases their personality. This look helps your audience connect with the human behind the brand.
When it comes to color, take a peek at your brand and logo for inspiration. Jewel tones and warm neutrals tend to be universally flattering. My little tip? You’ll typically want to steer clear of neon colors, prominent logos, heavy patterns as these can at times be distracting and date your photos quickly.
Remember, this isn't set in stone! During your personalized Brand Strategy Session, we'll dive into your specific brand and goals, and I'll provide tailored guidance on your outfit choices. And on the day of the shoot, I'm always there to offer my expert opinion to ensure you look and feel fantastic!

2. "Where in the world are we going to take these photos?"
The location of your photoshoot is just as crucial as what you wear! The good news is, the possibilities are vast and exciting. We're not limited to only studios!
During your Brand Strategy Session, we'll strategically choose a location (or several!) that aligns perfectly with your business goals and resonates with your ideal audience. I've had the pleasure of shooting in a diverse range of spaces, including vibrant co-working hubs, professional office environments, lush botanical gardens, elegant mansions, serene nature preserves, charming wineries, bustling event centers, sophisticated lobbies, cozy coffee shops, inviting restaurants, stylish retail stores, functional conference rooms, modern lofts, and countless other unique spots.
Finding the right location isn't just about aesthetics; it takes intention, a clear understanding of your brand strategy, and a dash of creative thinking. We'll consider the overall vibe you want to convey and ensure the backdrop enhances your message, rather than distracts from it.
3. "What if I just need a good headshot?"
I hear you! A professional headshot is undoubtedly important. That's why lifestyle headshots are absolutely included in your Brand Photography package. However, we go beyond just that single, standard headshot.
Your full gallery will be a treasure trove of images designed to build the complete story of your brand. Yes, you'll have those polished close-up shots perfect for your website "About" page and LinkedIn profile. But you'll also receive compelling full-length images and other storytelling visuals that offer a glimpse into the "why" behind your brand.
These storytelling images are what truly connect with your audience on a deeper level. They showcase your personality, your process, and the unique reasons why someone should choose to support your brand over anyone else. Think of your brand images as the visual embodiment of your brand's "why" – and a fantastic headshot is just one piece of that powerful puzzle!
